Fallout 3 Iron Sights Not Working
- Aug 13, 2012 For Fallout 3 on the PC, a GameFAQs message board topic titled 'FWE + EVE + WMK + RH Ironsights possible?' I seem to recall a lot of them weren't built with iron sights in mind, so the sights on them don't actually align. But I've never used any iron sights mods before, so I'm going on hearsay here. Seems to be working fine.
- Depends which irons. Anything that has a gap in between the rear and front sights of the sight picture would only be useful at very short ranges. Also, there are quite a few weapons that only have a front sight. They would be the least accurate of.

Unfortunately, though Bethesda put the framework for an iron sights system in place, it wasn't included in the final game. So Fallout 3 players miss out on this traditional FPS gameplay mechanic. The aim of RHIronSights (forgive the pun) is to adjust the.nif model of every vanilla weapon and the.kf file of every animation necessary to allow true, perfectly centered iron sights.

Every game seems to have 'iron sights' when you aim, what was wrong with the damn cross hairs spread when normal and tighter when pulled in?Well, here's a few reasons I would imagine it exists:1. It feels good. Left trigger to zoom, right to fire.
It's a simple mechanic that feels good to a lot of gamers.2. It's more natural.
I feel wierd when I zoom in and the crosshairs just gets smaller as the gun sits on the right of the screen. It just doesn't feel as immersive.3. It's a tactical mechanic.
You sacrifice movement speed for greater accuracy.1) Would work the same with cross hairs that get tighter.2) Make it an option then.3) So? I don't see why it couldn't work with crosshairs.if you want tighter cross hairs when you aim try using a shotgun with solid slugs in BFBC2 its the only weapon type that does the kind of non iron sighted aiming you are looking for.
You do know wind that affects the bullet is quite impossible to implement with our technology right? Wind, at least from what i have seen, is merely decoration used for levels. It has almost no tangible effect with bullets.Mate you are way off the mark there, adding a wind or gravity factor to the trajectory is the simplest thing possible, and the calculations for all that are millions of times less taxing then model animations.Games simply don't have any of that because it's far less fun.Yes adding a factor to a trajectory is easy, but not an actual dynamic wind like i am talking about. I never seen an actual dynamic wind that changed realistically. I seen a SET wind strength for levels but not anything that changed realistically and dynamically.
At least not 'true' dynamic as some are mere imitations of a dynamic wind.Um, any golf game withing the last 10 years has done just that. I don't mind Iron Sights at all. They work well in some games, BFBC/BC2 and the CoD's are the obvious examples.Fallout: New Vegas's are just shit though. Utter shit. For one, most of the guns I have at the moment don't have clear iron sights.The.357 Magnum doesn't at all. Just the top of the fucking revolver chamber.Another thing is that they seem to stutter about, a minor yet annoying thing. The thing that annoys me most is that the shots don't follow the sights. In CoD, BFBC and other games, the sights usually have a little point that signifies where exactly the bullets will end up. In F:NV, they don't.So the rare occasions where the guns show you clearly where you should be aiming, they don't land where you expect them to.Give us an option to have Fallout 3-style aiming, please, Obsidian.
As someone who shoots fairly regularly, I can tell you how essential these things are to firing accurately. Iron sights probably work better in more slowly paced games, like cover-based games and the like. FO3 aiming is basically a minor telescopic zoom, which in real life, would only show you how bad you're doing by aiming from the hip. I like all of the variation. It adds another level of depth to the combat.
I played Counter Strike for years and years, and I always wondered 'why can't I just aim down my sights and be more accurate'? Hip shooting just means you'll spray bullets everywhere, whereas aiming down your sights gives you a bearing on where the bullet will go, and you will be supporting the brunt of the kick with your shoulder.Trust me, it's kind of important.

It's a Call of Duty thing. I guess they wanna imply that with sights your aim isn't as crap as without them which is true in -some- cases, but in the end merely makes me want to punch the developer and force them to play some Counter Strike. Games are meant to be -fun. And if realism makes it -less- fun, then realism needs to go.Games shouldn't try to be fun, they should try to be compelling, which can include being fun, but isn't necessarily constrained to it. Nobody found Schindler's List 'fun', but it's a phenomenal example of its medium anyway. There's nothing wrong with games being just fun, but they are capable of so much more than that. Silly children think looking down the iron-sights of a gun is realistic.
Lmao.Try running with a rifle one time and firing. Or moving while looking down a ironsight. IMPOSSIBLE unless you have gyro stabilized arms.

Iron sights and full auto is also impossible. Unless you have a machinegun with dipod to rest it on.Bring back crosshairs, don't mind the weapon showing in the courner.Quake, Unreal, etc will always be my favs in FPS just because they don't cave into that pop gameculture kind of crap. I find it ironic that someone who claims to use firearms IRL thinks that aiming from the hip with crosshairs is acceptable. I don't find that to be the case at all. There is only one way I fire my weapons - front sight on the target. I don't hold two handguns in each hand like a jackass, wasting ammunition. I don't 'shoot from the hip' either.
That clown business belongs in movies.Who the hell is taking about shooting from the hip or using two guns? I can see your point and this is totally a rant on my part, but I hate the current state of the 'RPG'.
Elder Scrolls, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic - these are the games I want to be referred to as role playing games. Not first person shooters with a shallow leveling system or some loot to equip. No, for the most part I agree with you. The fact that Borderlands was labeled a FPRPG is dumb beyond measure. It's an FPS with, at best, 'RPG elements' tacked on. Even that seems kind of sparse in a game that mostly just sells itself on fat loot and lots of guns.I didn't even see this post.
Doesn't surprise me that this kid want's to debate on whether or not Fallout 3 is an FPS RPG.That doesn't seem to relate to the post I quoted. At first, I though it must be related to me instead because of that, but it seems you have a grudge against PK. Please don't bring me into it. Or use me as a platform to rant. Because point shooting only works in close quarters, no one uses point shooting beyond 10 yards. Yes they are going for realism, but its still not (aside from the fact its a video game) 'realistic'. No one survives a 12 gauge buckshot rounds to the chest, well maybe if your wearing body armor, but not some asshole with a knife.

Also no one survives being shot six times in the chest with an AR. As far as iron sights go, it's more realistic to aim and shoot a guy 30-40 yards away aiming down the sights then hip firing it. Mate you are way off the mark there, adding a wind or gravity factor to the trajectory is the simplest thing possible, and the calculations for all that are millions of times less taxing then model animations.Games simply don't have any of that because it's far less fun.Yes adding a factor to a trajectory is easy, but not an actual dynamic wind like i am talking about. At least not 'true' dynamic as some are mere imitations of a dynamic wind.Um, any golf game withing the last 10 years has done just that.so you're saying every golf game had a system of realistically changing wind speeds that are not a cycle of SET wind speeds that change on a timer to imitate a dynamic system?
