Here’s what it says in the Judicial Council’s explanatory note:“This proposal would amend the rules governing pagination for ‘papers,’ motion documents, and motion memoranda — rules 2.109, 3.1110(c), and 3.1113(h) — to provide that page numbering must begin with the first page and only use Arabic numerals (e.g. 1, 2, 3) and that the page number be suppressed and need not appear on the first page As a result, the pages of tables of contents in memoranda will no longer be paginated using lowercase Roman numerals.”I hope that helps.Richard.

Who's behind Legal Office Guru?Hi, my name’s Deborah Savadra, and I'm the chief blogger (and everything else) at Legal Office Guru. Over the course of my career (which has been more like a careen), I’ve worked in law offices as a legal secretary, paralegal, and technology “fixer upper.” I left the legal field briefly in the 1990s to work as a programmer/analyst in the Information Technology field, then started my own consulting firm in 2000.I've spent considerable time since then providing training for local law firms, including those who are transitioning from WordPerfect to Word as well as those simply looking to improve their staff’s current skills with the Microsoft Office suite. I currently work as a legal assistant in a large U.S. Law firm, so I'm right there in the trenches with you! This blog is my attempt to educate legal professionals everywhere, doing what I can to improve efficiency, reduce stress, and generally make life in a law office easier! Learn to work with Word rather than against it. Despite what I consider to be a high computer aptitude, I have never been able to figure out the Word puzzle. Two years ago I was desperately trying to find a resource that would finally help me. I stumbled upon Legal Office Guru and I am finally using Word as the programmers at Microsoft meant it to be used. Using Deborah’s very detailed and annotated mini lessons on how to use Word’s many features, my understanding of Word has increased a thousand-fold. I am beginning to feel more comfortable with such obtuse tasks as auto numbering. I now know where to look for features that before were basically either hidden from me or were not easily understood, such as the simple buttons for increasing or decreasing number levels. If you are like me and still struggle with even so-called basic aspects of Word, you need to immediately become familiar with Legal Office Guru and its excellent guides.
