- One question I still have though is if it is possible to have a one way door (I.E You use the door and the door it teleports to is one that just opens.) I want to use this for an effect where the player opens the door they just went through and it leads only into an abyss.

I actually find it easier to create characters using the startup showracemenu effect the game gives you at the beginning, than using GECK. In fact, Im hating it. My NPC is looking like some weird paled out Orangutan that wouldnt be out of place on Dr.Moreaus island. Or, any way to use PC faces cr.

Sure, they are great games, but even if they weren't I would have bought NWN, HL, HL2, Unreal Tournament 2004, etc just for the engine access you get.
Especially the games that give you access to source or unreal, because you get access to source full source code, and unreal has it's own scripting language which is really good. You won't be able to put out content like that, especially not as one single person, even at it's most basic form when you are simply re-using assets from the game in order to make new quests you will have to deal with a fair few complicated processes, and for say a quest that takes an hour to complete, you're looking at maybe two weeks of development, more if you are inexperienced, and as I said, without knowledge of code and art, and the workflow specific to Fallout 3 for those, there won't be any 'new' content it will just be recycled content, items and locations. Follow some beginner tutorials and see how you like it though, but don't go into it expecting to churn out new content right away, it will only end in tears. But really, if your buying for the PC already, there is a HUGE community pumping out mods already and probably already released mods for what you would want to do.
I packed my instance of FO3 with a ton of them as it is, and then built myself a nice space station to live on. You should also replace the textures and character models with high-res versions, they make vanilla fallout 3 look like dirt.
