Better Beast Races Skyrim
This mod gets rid of the angular shapes of the beast races (Argonian & Khajiit) caused by compressed object space normal maps. The following object space normal maps will be replaced: head, mouth, hands, body. For these races it was a lot harder to do than the human and elven races, due toall the small details of fur and scales. I did my best to keep the loss of detail at a minimum. The new updated version also adds more detailed diffuse- and specular maps. Now this mod is like a combination of 'No More Blocky Faces', 'Detailed Faces'and 'Detailed Bodies' for the beast races.Use the Curse client to install the mod.Manual installation:Use 7zip or WinRar to extract the files.Move the Data folder to your Skyrim folder. You can find the Skyrim folder here: SteamsteamappscommonskyrimTo those who are new to using Elder Scrolls mods:- You do not have to extract the.bsa archives.
Page 2 of 2 - Better Beast Races (by Xenius) - posted in H - Characters & Creatures: Well, Dimon99 declared UNP finished as of 1.51 so not entirely sure what needs to be supported once a body is finished. Any changes as of this point would just cause issues with already built armor and cause confusion.
But if beast races can't wear boots then they're toes will get frostbite! Especially the cold blooded argonians!!! I say keep beast races the way they were in oblivion just make them look more rugged and wildI want the Morrowind style Beast races to return. None of this humanoid bull.Heh. I remember in Solstheim there was an Argonian (Skink-In-Trees-Shade) who wanted shoes because his feet were cold.
And I think Khajiit would be fine because they have fur on their feet.Posts: 3467 Joined: Wed Aug 16, 2006 8:20 pm. Something akin to for argonians would be great, though I doubt they'll make them that animalistic. That looks pretty good. In my opinion, both beast races looked horrible in OB, and not because of their legs. Argonians looked like aliens, those flat faces made them completely lose what was so appealing in their MW counterparts. They were also too bulky. Khajiit had no catlike grace to them, nor did they ever look frightening like a lion, instead having this dumb expression which made me feel ridiculous whenever I played as one, so I switched to Dunmer.Posts: 3425 Joined: Tue Jul 04, 2006 7:10 am. Bethesda, show me some creativity!
That's all I ask for. Some creativity. This is really all I ask as well. I don't care whether they can wear helmets or boots, or if their legs are backwards or forward. What I really want is for them to not look like cartoony humans with fake skin. I want the beast races to truly feel beast-like, in the way they move, speak, and in their general anatomy.
Skyrim Nexus Better Beast Races
I want to get a unique experience playing as a beast race. That should be reflected not only in an altered appearance and animations, but in the way I am able to go about doing things. Maybe some factions will have a different view of me based on my race, or at the very least plenty of people in the world should view me differently. Maybe being an Argonian allows me access to a special sanctuary set up by some kind old Argonian settler, so that if I am ever in need of a bed or healing or maybe even a merchant, I can just go there and be welcomed with open arms. But they will only take in Argonians. That will be counterbalanced by some racism from other people/settlements.

That sort of things is much more important to me than some of the more trivial matters related to beast races.Posts: 3386 Joined: Sat Jul 14, 2007 8:36 pm. Maybe something like, if you play a beast race, they get some extra plus, like. Whatever, you know, something minor. They cant wear boots and full helms, but if they obtain ex. A steel helm or a pair of boots they can go to a blacksmith and 're-build' it for a small fee, and yes it's one of the negatives but they get some minor plusses too. Sounds good to me, dont know what you other people think of it though.I agree I had the same thought, it doesn't make sense that there weren't items specifically made for the beast races in Morrowind, then again, a good portion of the Argonian and Khajiit population in Morrowind were slaves, so that might explain things a bit. But,this is skyrim, so there is no reason why you couldn't take your human boots to a blacksmith and pay to have them made into Argonian boots.Posts: 3453 Joined: Sun May 13, 2007 10:58 am.
As much as I love Argonians, I wouldn't see them fit here. Shoes will not help a cold-blooded being in the least at staying warm, because it is not warm to begin with.It isnt clear if they really are cold-blooded. Maybe they are both, or change depending on how many times they have licked the tree, or something completely else. There was a discussion in the lore section about this before, im pretty sure no absoloute answer was decided (its usually like that).Posts: 3413 Joined: Tue Jun 13, 2006 6:40 amDisplay posts from previous: Sort.
