OverviewFar Cry 2 is a shooter developed by and published. It was released on October 21, 2008 in North America and on October 23, 2008 in Europe and Australia.
Although featuring new characters and storylines, Ubisoft marketed Far Cry 2 as the true sequel to Far Cry., developers of, were not involved in the development of Far Cry 2. The game is available on,. Story The game gives players an opportunity to soak up a beautiful sunset.Far Cry 2 is a sequel only in name, and has no ties to the past games, other than the obvious one man army style of gameplay. As such, this game has no mutants, no monsters, and no feral abilities such as those found in. Instead, the player will choose one of nine playable characters. The other eight characters whom the player did not choose will then appear in other parts of the game.
However, they are not like most. If they die, they will remain dead, and missions and story from there on out may be drastically different. Ubisoft has stressed this as one of the many things that contribute to the replayability of Far Cry 2.

Far Cry 2 Wiki is a FANDOM Games Community. Far Cry 2 Video Game - The sequel to the original Far Cry dispenses with Jack Carver, and moves the action to a war-consumed Africa complete with an open-ended storyline involving civil war, several hours of missions, heated gunplay, and a slew of dynamic elements powered by a new engine.

If the player's health reaches zero, and they have recently asked a buddy to be on stand-by while visiting a safe house, then a small cutscene plays of that buddy saving the player character. They will then give the player a sidearm and carry on.The player begins the game with one goal: find and assassinate an arms dealer known as. The Jackal is the sole reason civil war consumes the game's African locale, as he deals arms to both sides of the conflict. However, there are multiple endings due to the dynamic elements of the game (e.g. The aforementioned death of a buddy NPC). One of Far Cry 2's much touted elements is its dynamic gameplay; every decision the player makes may end up impacting the story.
If one of the mercenaries were to die, the game would re-organize the social structure according to that mercenary's death. Players can ally themselves with friendly NPCs who can provide certain gameplay perks. Gameplay Propagating fire.Far Cry 2 takes place in a large, open-world, fictional country; which is complete with towns, bodies of water, deserts, and a number of enemy encampments and bases to attack and infiltrate. The map is approximately 52 square kilometers, which is larger than. Far Cry 2 is powered by the (in many languages this means 'earth' or 'world'), which is compatible with PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
The engine features a, real-time weather effects and persistent environmental decay (such as trees that snap apart and then regrow over time), as well as fire propagation affected by weather, which allows the player to set fires to destroy or distract, possibly even killing enemies. Animals are also included in the game, although only herbivorous animals.
Although carnivorous animals were rumored to be, they were never released or announced. These dynamic gameplay elements encourage the player to experiment in different ways. The environment of Far Cry 2 is packed full of enemies. Over the course of the game, players will encounter many guard outposts, safe houses, and military checkpoints that are swarming with APR and UFLL forces. Both factions will engage in combat if they spot the player, no matter what alliances the player has; also, it is never clear exactly what faction the soldiers belong to because they do not wear uniforms or any other form of identification.
These two things were the result of a design choice reflected in multiple main character's dialogues with the player, where they reflect on the fact that the player is a 'deniable asset', and explain that even 'allied' soldiers will attempt to kill the player character.Factors including weather, day and night cycles, and 'advanced' help make the player improvise. The artificial intelligence does several things to create a more realistic enemy. Enemy troops from both the UFLL and APR will sleep, eat, and patrol like real people. In the afternoons, they may be active and vehicles may be patrolling the woods and desert, whereas at night or at dawn the mood and activity will be slower and more relaxed.
The AI also can do such things things as pursing the enemy when their weapons or vehicles are stolen or hijacked. They will hunt the player down; their mood will affect how aggressive they are in combat. Some player-usable vehicles include (but are not limited to):. Large truck. Small carIn Far Cry 2, safe houses play an important role. At a safe house; players can rest, restock, and meet with 'buddies' and save the game. There are many of them scattered around the environment, and are marked by a tent icon on the map. Before players can use a safe house, they must clear its immediate vicinity of enemy soldiers.
After that, players can safely enter and gain access to the cot, ammo, gun crates, and medical supplies inside. With the cot, players can sleep until a certain time of day, which is useful if players want to get up in the middle of the night to attack a heavily guarded enemy camp. Weapon crates can be purchased at the arms dealer for rough diamonds and are used to store weapons. As long as players have a corresponding crate for the type of weapon they are holding, they can put it into the crate to store for future use. As players and buddies use the safe houses, the amount of supplies stored there will increase. Players will find more ammo and first aid supplies on the shelves.
The game features officially licensed Jeeps, which are driven in first person.Weapons and vehicles can fail, due to jamming, stalling, or engine failure; this is caused by degradation over continued usage. Several vehicles have a turret. NPCs, however, will not get into vehicles with the player; The player must get out of the driver's seat and into the turret. Vehicles have two states of disrepair. One is a white smoke that is coming from the engine and the other is a black smoke. Black smoke means that failing to repair the vehicle will kill the engine and stop the vehicle dead in its tracks.
To repair a vehicle simply walk towards the engine and press the use button. The player character will then take out a wrench and fix the engine.Injury is important in the world of Far Cry 2. The player character has a five-bar health meter.
If any bars get only partially depleted they will regenerate automatically, but any bars that are fully depleted will have to be restored by using a syringe (or drinking water bottles that are commonly found at camps around the world). Initially, players can carry five syringes at a time; one syringe will fully restore the player's health as long as there is more than one health bar section left. If players have fewer than one bar section remaining, then the players character will remove bullets from their body, snap fingers back into position, and even splint broken bones. This takes significantly longer than using a syringe, so healing early is wise. There are many ways to obtain missions, such as talking to persons of interest like faction leaders at their respective headquarters or buddies at the local bar.
Once players begin a conversation that involves them needing work done, they can press a button to obtain an info folder from them. Contained in the folder will be the coordinates of the objective and a short description of the mission. These missions usually involve destroying some strategic thing around the world like fuel tanks, vehicles, or VIPs. Missions can also be taken on from cell phone towers. Approaching a box on the cell phone tower will give players the option to tap into the tower, which will cause their phone to ring.
After picking up the phone, a heavily distorted voice will tell divulge the location of someone that they want assassinated and will explain that payment will be supplied as soon as the job is done.Very soon after the game starts, the player contracts malaria; from there on, players have to start carrying malaria pills to control the symptoms. Players are given an ample supply of the pills at the beginning, but eventually these run out and more will need to be found. The local priest can help players with this, but is reluctant at first because the player character is a mercenary. Eventually, he gives in because he hates to see people sick, and gives the player the location of an Underground house. These Underground houses are the hideouts of the few unfortunate civilians remaining in the country.
They have malaria pills, but in turn, players will need to complete a task for them to get the pills. When a malaria attack strikes, players must take a pill within a certain amount of time or else they will not survive. A malaria attack while swimming can result in the player character drowning. WeaponsThe player has access to a large amount of weapons in Far Cry 2, all of which are based on real weapons. The player has three slots to load their weapons into, primary weapon, sidearm, and accesory. Primary WeaponsThe primary weapons which are generally wielded with two hands. This includes battle rifles, assault rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns, a silenced sub-machine gun, and grenade launchers.

The impact of a moving weapon (let alone shooter) on long-range accuracy can't really be over-implemented. Most games might have movement, but they still have either an absurdly generous hitbox OR a visible HUD reticle that shows where your stuff is going.
Wouldn't that be nice.Keep in mind that jerking the frigging trigger can be enough to put your accuracy off by several inches at 100 yards. That's not pulling the trigger properly. And that's at 100. Most attempts to simulate shooting at long range with iron sights are again subject to a fantasy hitbox. As stated by others, lethality is overboard for a genre that invariably uses pistols, SMG's and assault rifles, all generally with military FMJ ammo. You can inflict enormous amounts of trauma on someone with rifles that will stop them, but that's usually using softpoint ammunition and hunting calibers (based on what these tend to do to deer & boar).
Click to expand. And, as I said, we always play through the eyes of a super-uber black-ops ninja commando just about. Every time we end up playing a modern military FPS or third person shooter. Training invariably will be top notch. So perfect trigger pulls would be perfect just about every time, unless we're talking about an explosion erupting nearby partially stunning you, your gun's swaying all over the place, you've set it to full auto, and your spraying down a handful of guys rushing you.Which, no matter how well trained the character is, if a player can do it quickly, they will do it.
Click to expand.Point shooting is an established technique for accurately firing weapons at short range without acquiring sight picture. I've even picked up the basics with two of my airsoft guns over the course of the last eight years. Electronic sights definitely have their uses in a medium-range firefight, but they just add weight to the gun if you're going to be doing house clearance using a weaon you can point shoot: since most FPS games have you playing a super-elite dude, it would be realistic to assume he's probably learned the drill.
Click to expand. This is one of my biggest issues with modern FPS games, actually. In games like HL2 or whatever, you might as well just wield the biggest machine gun you can all the time because it makes no difference: If I was entering a lot of those places in real life, I might even prefer a pistol because it's so much less likely to get caught on stuff or smack against the walls, and it's so much faster and easier to point-shoot with. In an urban firefight, I can acquire a target, aim and fire significantly faster with my pistol than I can with my rifle, and from a more awkward position (around a corner or whatever).
Even in woodland firefights, I've had days where I've just gone pistols only and had a whale of a time crawling through the undergrowth and sneaking up on people- I tried to do that with a rifle once and lost four G36 mags. Not only that but the gun caught on everything, most of the time the other team would hear me coming and lace up the bush and even when I did manage to get a clear shot half the time one of the bushes I'd crawled through had taken the mag out of my gun and I got nothing.Far Cry 2 is particularly bad for crawling through bushes armed with ridiculously long rifles, though it does have a lot of other gun mechanics that are better than most games IMO. Click to expand.5b: not just that, but standing hunched over your gun at a sort of half-crouch to aim it properly gets really uncomfortable very quickly, especially if you try to move in that position.5c: Interestingly, this is another area where at least some real-life SF do extensive training. They try to always fire from stationary positions wherever possible as it's still a lot better, but some of the proper hardcore operators are frankly incredible in the way they can hold their weapon steady while moving, even over obstacles. It's almost like watching a stabilised tank gun sometimes. If you're not playing a hardcore special forces dude, though, your point is absolutely spot on.
Click to expand. This, this, a thousand times this! Seriously, computer games are to combat what third-hand sports gossip is to Olympic sprinting. In terms of aiming mechanics- three positions, standing, crouching, prone, and two 'condition types,' At Ease and Ready. For games that include a lot of urban combat, you may also want to include a stance or action for taking cover behind a specific terrain piece or to the side of a specific door or something. The mechanic may sound complex, but it needn't be: From standing, press 'Crouch' once to crouch, once more to go prone: From prone, press 'Stand' once to crouch, once more to stand: From any position, hold down 'Run' and press 'forward' to snap to standing at ease and run. You could even set it all up on the same key, with a single tap being 'Crouch' and a double tap being 'Stand.'

Click to expand. When is crouching used? When in the open and needing to move fast and provide a small profile at the same time, or whenever fired without high enough cover to stand while firing?. Ammo by magazine, no ammo pooling. Realistic loading; grows faster with training. No diluting.
Magazines with ammo are placed back into webbing for later use. Speed loading on empty magazine with sufficient training.

Forced speed loading. Dropped magazines means lost magazine and lost ammo. With sufficient safety and time, ammo can be moved between magazines and reloaded. Snagging your weapon may force you to stop or back up to un-snag. Short weapons mean less or no chance of snagging.
Some sort of weapon dependent weight/endurance/maneuvering/clutter characteristics effecting the character abilities, loading, and mouse use. Inaccuracy should be in a fuzzy figure eight pattern.
Holding your weapon at the ready should slowly decrease accuracy. Snagging your weapon should momentarily destroy accuracy by pulling the weapon out of line.

When I'm airsofting, my pistols are my favourite guns, especially in urban firefights. Not always the most effective, but they're a lot easier to move with, easy to reflex-aim and fast to acquire targets with, and you just don't see many of those compensations portrayed well in games.Re: ReloadingUnless you're particularly good or have been doing it a long time and know your kit really well, ingame reloads mostly range from 'not that bad' to 'pretty quick actually,' though there are definitely some instances of the reload on a particular weapon being slowed right down for game balance purposes. Even if you know your kit well, it can take a moment to find a mag that isn't empty, particularly if you're running low and in a high-stress environment where you can't necessarily remember which pouch still has loaded mags in. Ready-mag holders and the like definitely enable much faster reloads than we see in games, and a good dump pouch or variant thereof will also help but in most cases reloading speeds are far from being a major issue for me in terms of realism. Click to expand.Bad company 2 is very good about keeping the pistol still useful. Whenever my M249 runs out of ammo, I very very very consider switching to the MP443 or M1911 as very good option.

No matter what weapon I'm holding switching to the pistol is far more efficient and has saved me quite a few times. Walking around with it when you're a sniper is also rather soothing because you know you can kill people as long as you can see them and fire faster then them. I've killed more then a couple people using them, and I'm very happy to use M1911 for ranged work instead of the tommy gun.
